Gautama Buddha was a sixth century BC spiritual teacher who founded Buddhism. Through his teachings he emphasized the importance of existing in harmony and peace in our physical and social environment. The Buddhist Study Centre was established in our college by the UGC in 2007. Since then it has been running with great success. A certificate course has been introduced by this center. The course is structured around the life and teachings of Lord Buddha and explores the spread of Buddhism in India and abroad. Under this course, seminars, workshops and talks, which emphasize the relevance of Buddha's teachings in contemporary life, are organized. Eminent speakers from various universities and academic institutions are invited to hold these sessions. Not only this, other activities such as excursions, poster making, declamation, screening of documentary films etc. are regular features of this course. Through this course students learn to understand the importance of leading lives which are at harmony with the environment(s) they are embedded in.
