Dr. Nita N. Kumar (Ph.D in English)

Dr. Nita N. Kumar is a Fulbright Senior Fellow and did her post-doctoral research at Yale University from 2006 to 2007. She has a Ph.D in English from the University of Delhi. She is also a recipient of Charles Wallace and Andrew Mellon grants and she used the latter to do archival research at the Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center at the University of Texas, Austin. Dr. Kumar has a wide range of publications in the areas of American and African American literature, Shakespeare, Modern European drama, and Indian writing in English. She has edited three books and her articles and essays have appeared in peer-reviewed and refereed journals and in books in India and abroad. She has presented her work at several International and National Conference in India, England, Spain and the USA, and has delivered invited lectures in India and the USA. She has also organized seminars including Special Sessions at the MLA and conferences for her college and the Shakespeare Society of India. She was the Executive Committee member and the Secretary of the Shakespeare Society of India in succession for nearly a decade. From 1998 to 2002, Dr. Kumar was a member of the Academic Council of the University of Delhi. She has taught in the English Department in the College since 1981 and at the Postgraduate Department of English, University of Delhi from 2000 to 2014.
