Basic Details:

The Department of Computer Science at SPM College was established in the year 1999 with the course BIT. The Department then started the course B.Sc.(H) Computer Science and B.A.(P) Computer Applications in year 2003. It also offered B.Tech (Computer Science) in FYUP in the year 2013.\r\nThe vision of the Computer Science Department is to create quality learning opportunities amongst students and to make them responsible and good professionals. The learning activity in computer science is enriched with bundle of practical, projects, hands on session, quizzes, web/app development, including a variety of pedagogy such as demonstration, lectures, presentations, problem solving, e-resources, etc. To enhance the skill sets, the Computer Science Society, namely, TechVyom, actively organizes seminars, trainings, paper presentations, innovative projects, internship programs, workshops, Team based learning activities, quizzes, coding competitions, technical events etc. These activities are conducted all through the academic session covering all crucial aspects like subject knowledge, quantitative aptitude, verbal ability, group discussions, psychometric test, and personal interviews etc. The department has good and well-equipped computer laboratories with facilities like Internet access, audio aids, and visual projectors. The department of computer science possess team of dedicated, dynamic, and enthusiastic 12 faculty members. The faculty and students make a bonding and work together with the mission to achieve excellence in academic and non-academics. The faculty members are actively involved in research work too. Faculty members of the department have published research articles, conference and journal papers, book chapters, books etc. with reputed and renowned publishing entities. They also encourage students to carry out research-based projects/activities/surveys etc. We as individual and as team committed towards our work.

The Department offers following four-year undergraduate program under NEP - UGCF.\r\n1. B.Sc. (Hons.) Computer Science \r\n2 B.A.(Program) Computer Applications as Major/Non-Major \r\nThe department offers a range of interdisciplinary courses as follows:\r\n1. Generic Elective (GE)\r\n2. Skill Enhancement (SEC)\r\n3. Value Addition Courses (VAC)\r\nThese courses cover a variety of subjects including python programming, web designing, app development, Machine learning, Data Mining, Data Analytics, R programming etc. These courses are designed to equip the students with in-depth understanding of the concepts of computer science both in the theoretical and practical framework. These courses open door for diverse career opportunities and enhances students’ skill sets and employability probability.
