Basic Details:
The department was set up in the year 1984 as department of Family and Child Welfare and in 2016 the department name was changed to Human Development and Family Empowerment (HDFE).
The papers of the department are offered to the students of B.A. Program. The students study one of the papers of HDFE.
The department has well equipped laboratory and a department library.
Course Details:
The vision of the department is to nurture the students as informed enthusiastic and dedicated caregivers, counsellors and educators in their families, play schools and schools. As a department the mission is to teach from life span perspective. The students learn about the milestones of development, empowerment of women and children, child rights, children in especially difficult circumstances etc. The course content equips the students with skills to enable them to find employment.
In the beginning of each semester, the students are made aware of the learning objectives of the paper they are going to study.
The department organizes Talks and Workshops on topics related to the papers being taught. Workshops are organized on Gender related issues. Talks are also organized on topics related to children with special needs. Various resource persons who have expertise in their field are invited. The students are also taken for field visits.
