Philosophy

Basic Details:

The department was established in 1974 to offer philosophy as an optional subject in BA program. In 1995, the college started B.A. Honors in Philosophy and joined a group of few select colleges of Delhi University to offer this course.The department teaches a diverse range of subject such as logic, Ethics, Western philosophy, Greek philosophy, Indian philosophy, Social and Political Philosophy, Philosophy of religion, feminism, Bioethics, Aesthetics, Yoga Philosophy, Indian Materialism, Art and Film Appreciation, Formal Logic and Philosophy of Language. Lectures are delivered in both English and Hindi. To enhance Methodology of Online Teaching, a WhatsApp group is created for regular communication and problem-solving discussion. All study material is to be posted in Google Classroom. Translation of English articles is provided to Hindi medium students. The department also has a Philosophy Association, which conducts various events like Orientation Program, freshers ‘party, debates, National & International seminars, workshops, paper presentations, quiz competitions, movie screenings, career counselling programs, farewell parties, ICPR Funded events, Student\'s Union Election, Outreach Programs. The association also invites eminent academicians and field professionals to deliver lectures.
