Aims and Mission

The committee's primary objective is to reduce smoking in all its manifestations, including the use of ecigarettes and vaping devices, by promoting an atmosphere that encourages cessation and prevents initiation.
Our goal is to educate the campus on the health risks of smoking, empower individuals to make informed
decisions, and ensure compliance with smoke-free campus regulations.
Our mission is to safeguard the health of the college community by advocating for a smoke-free campus, not
limited to traditional tobacco products but inclusive of all forms of smoking, including e-cigarettes, vaping, and
other inhalants. We aim to provide comprehensive education and resources that promote healthy choices and
discourage smoking in any form, while actively supporting individuals in quitting.

Future Plans, Goals, and Initiatives:
1. Comprehensive Education and Awareness Campaigns:
Organize regular workshops, webinars, and interactive sessions addressing the dangers of not only cigarette
smoking but also e-cigarettes, vaping, and other harmful substances. Utilize social media and campus
communication channels to distribute educational content and maintain ongoing engagement on the risks of all
forms of smoking.
2. Enforcement of Smoke-Free Zones:
Enforce smoke-free zones across campus, including areas where the use of e-cigarettes and vaping devices is
prohibited. Ensure that signage is clear and that policies regarding all types of smoking are well-communicated.
Collaborate with security and volunteers to maintain a clean, smoke-free environment.
3. Smoking and Vaping Cessation Support:
Provide support for those who wish to quit smoking, vaping, or using other harmful substances. Partner with
health professionals to offer counseling, nicotine replacement therapies, and peer support groups, ensuring
comprehensive resources for all individuals, regardless of the type of smoking they wish to quit.
4. Collaborative Anti-Smoking Initiatives:
Partner with student bodies, health organizations, and local authorities to run anti-smoking and anti-vaping
drives, public health campaigns, and joint initiatives that target all forms of smoking. Extend the reach of these
efforts to the broader community, promoting a smoke-free lifestyle both on and off-campus.
5. Data-Driven Research and Surveys:
Conduct surveys to understand the prevalence of smoking, vaping, and e-cigarette use among students and
staff, and measure the effectiveness of current programs. Use the data to continuously refine and improve
strategies that address all forms of smoking.
6. Incentive and Reward Programs:
Develop incentive programs that reward students and staff who successfully quit smoking, vaping, or using
other substances. Provide recognition for those participating in anti-smoking/vaping campaigns, encouraging
more involvement in campus-wide initiatives.
