The SPMC Alumni Committee, Shyama Prasad Mukherji College for Women, University of Delhi organized its Alumni Meet in collaboration with the SPMC Alumni Association on 27th April’24 from 10:00 AM onwards. The organizing team comprised of Dr Supriya Sinha, Co-Convenor, office bearers of the association, and its executive members. The Alumni Meet commenced with lighting of the lamp and Saraswati Vandana followed by the welcome of the chief guest, senior journalist, Shri Vishal Dahiya. Dr. Sadhna Sharma, Principal SPMC (W) delivered the welcome address. She welcomed all Alumni and encouraged and appreciated the efforts of the organizing team. After this, it was the time for the Chief Guest’s address. Ms. Nitika Kuhar and Ms. Dharmika Talwar, members, Alumni Association, welcomed the eight founding members of the alumni association, who, at present, are the office bearers of the association. President of the association. Ms. Ashema Hasti then addressed the audience outlining her vision for the association. This was followed by felicitation of one alumnus from each department with the distinguished alumni award that constituted a trophy and certificate. Dr Renu Aggarwal, Senior Associate Professor, Dept of Commerce, conducted a few games where there were prizes to be won. The office bearers of the association played a video taking the audience on a trip down the memory lane. Two alumni came up on the dais and expressed their thoughts about the college, the alumni meet and the experience of meeting everyone. They reminisced about the good time they spent at SPMC(W). Ms. Tanya Gandhi, an alumnus of the Department of Education, works at TCS and she shared few roles for which the company was looking to hire people. She encouraged her fellow alumni to apply for the said positions. The alumni meet for 2023-24 ended with a vote of thanks by Dr Supriya Sinha. The audience then proceeded to have lunch. Several interactive activities like selfi-point, the Decade Tree and I Wish to Share board were installed. Alumni actively participated and interacted with one another, and their respective department faculty.

Alumnae of SPM are very well placed not only in India but also in other countries of the world. They have marked their presence with their outstanding work in every sector segment whether its government or private, academic or non -academic. The Alumni committee of SPMC (W) always works to maintain the bond of students after graduating from the college by conducting an annual meet. This year also college had its annual meet 2023, in which more than overwhelming response of 190 registrations from the alumni was received. This occasion was not celebrated with alumnae and current student’s only, retired and current faculties were also among the members who graced the occasion by their presence. The alumni meet of 2022- 2023 was held on 23rd April 2023. Everyone cherished the beautiful bond with one another by sharing their experiences, by reciting songs and poems, etc. 34 alumni from different departments were felicitated for their achievements in various fields. The idea of having a registered society of ALUMNI was initiated by our principal Prof. Sadhana Sharma. The proposal was appreciated by everyone. We completed the process of registration of Alumni association in 2022 and completed the formalities of getting the Alumni association bank account operational in IOB bank SPM College in 2023. Ms. Ashema Hasti, an alumna, gave her name for the post of President.
