As per the Statute 30 and Ordinance XVIII of the University of Delhi, the Governing Body is responsible for the management of the college and stays in close contact with the Principal on all matters pertaining to the smooth functioning of the institution. The Governing Body comprises a chairperson who presides over the meetings of the representatives, the Principal, who is also the member-secretary of the GB, a university representative appointed by the vice chancellor of Delhi university, two members nominated from the staff, and one from the non-teaching staff.  Matters pertaining to faculty retirement, infrastructure and the overall development of the college are discussed in the General Body meetings.  The decisions regarding the institution, suspension and abolition of teaching and non-teaching posts is taken by the Governing Body.

The Principal is the member secretary in the governing body, and is responsible for the appropriate administration and the organization of teaching and the extra-curricular activities in the college. Decisions in matters of organizing admissions, sports, extra-curricular activities, preparation of the college time table, allocation of extra-curricular activities of teachers not involving remuneration and laying guidelines for purchase of Library books are taken care of by the Staff Council, subject to the provisions of the Act, Statutes and ordinances of the University of Delhi.

The college holds regular Staff Council meetings to discuss academic and research activities, planning and implementation of programs. Staff Association meetings are also regularly held to have discussions on various academic and non-academic issues for the welfare of the teaching and non-teaching community. Respective departments of the college hold departmental meetings where issues related to the functioning of the department and recommendations of IQAC are discussed by the teachers-in-charge with other faculty members.   

SPMC has an active Students’ Council, an elected body duly formed through a democratic process of election. The Student Advisory Committee works as Advisor to the council and helps organize elections as per rules/procedures announced by the University for Delhi. The union is funded by a small union fee taken from the students at the time of admission. Our student council actively engages in organizing and formulating various events that showcase the innovative methods and creative ingenuity of our students.
