The college is aware of the security and safety challenges that our students face, especially as a number of them undertake long, arduous daily commutes. The Computer Science department, in association with teachers from various departments and a mentor from IBM, Dr. Biplav Srivastava, developed a mobile application called ‘Humsafar App’. The app, available for download at Google Playstore, facilitates easy public pooling,. It aims to make travel safer for students of the college and allows like-minded people to connect. There is also a feature to share one’s location with friends and family in case of emergency, and an SOS button to call emergency contact number.
The institution deploys security at strategic locations within the college premises to ensure safety of the students. They are responsible for verifying the identity cards of those who seek to gain entry into the premises. Outsiders have to undergo stringent security checks and make an entry in the register at the gate stating the purpose for the visit. The college even takes help from Delhi police to maintain peace and order during the time of important college events such as students union elections, admissions, college festivals, and examinations. Every year, the college organizes self-defence workshops for its students. Moreover, the campus is under CCTV surveillance. The college has an Anti-Sexual Harassment Committee which works actively around the year to ensure the safety of the students. It conducts an orientation for the students at the beginning of every new session.
